About You / What We Are Looking For

 

The City’s Community Safety Department is seeking two Accounts Clerk (RCMP) to join the Financial Services Section at the RCMP Detachment.  This position is physically and functionally embedded within the RCMP detachment and offers a unique and exciting opportunity to support public safety.

 

Reporting to the Financial Services Section Supervisor, the Accounts Clerk will be part of a collaborative team of three Accounts Clerks that provides day-to-day financial and administrative support to RCMP members and municipal employees working within the detachment.

 

This rewarding opportunity is well suited to a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong clerical, organizational, accounting, and communication skills. Key responsibilities include ordering supplies and maintaining inventory to support detachment operations; processing invoices and purchase card transactions; and administering member expense claims.  The role involves regular interaction with a wide range of internal stakeholders within the detachment, as well as building and maintaining effective working relationships with external vendors and service providers.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a requirement.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by bookkeeping and/or accounting courses, as well as being proficient with Microsoft Excel; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience working in a similar financial role within the RCMP, municipal policing or municipal government environment
  • The ideal candidate will have strong relevant clerical accounting, customer services and problem solving experience, preferably in a policing or municipal setting
  • A post secondary diploma or degree in a finance related discipline supplemented by relevant accounting courses.  
  • Previous accounting experience, advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, and the ability to use financial software systems such as Cognos, Maximo and AMANDA will be considered an asset.

 

What We Offer:

 

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $30.51 to $35.84/hour. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.

Additionally, there is an opportunity to participate in an earned day off/flex day program. This position does not offer a hybrid working environment and is required in office 5 days per week.  The City offers an attractive vacation and extended benefits package, including the ability to contribute to the Municipal Pension Plan.
