About You / What We Are Looking For
Seeking a skilled worker, ideally with past
cemetery operations experience, who can help care for and upkeep the municipal
cemetery. In this role, the Cemetery Worker will be responsible for assisting
with and leading interments, maintaining the lawn, shrubs, flower beds, and
pathways, as well as maintaining cleanliness of the washrooms and buildings..
You will perform a variety of grounds tasks, including manual gardening, and
will utilize equipment of varying sizes and complexity such as backhoe, ride-on
and push mowers, leaf blowers, line trimmers and other related hand and power
tools to perform your daily work.
As an auxiliary position, the Cemetery worker can
expect to work up-to 32-hours per week throughout the year with shift availability
determined by operational demands. These positions will support and supplement
the work of two full-time cemetery employees and will provide ongoing and
occasional shift availability 7-days per week. The auxiliary cemetery worker
will be an integral contributor to ensuring cemetery services and grounds
maintenance practices meets established service standards and customer
requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will
have completed some high school, and will have some related experience, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

A Driver’s License for the
Province of BC is required.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has
an hourly rate of $34.41. The rate of
pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge,
experience and skills.
