About You / What We Are Looking For

 

We are currently in search of a Community Policing Assistant to join us for a 6-month temporary assignment. The Community Police Services team administers volunteer and community programs within the Coquitlam RCMP service area. The CPU Assistant reports to the Community Policing Supervisor, while supporting Community Policing Coordinators and the RCMP. This position also works directly with volunteers and assists the public.

 

In this administrative role, you are responsible for a variety of duties and tasks including: scheduling and coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, recording minutes, assisting with scheduling and tracking of volunteers, preparing correspondence, preparing unit documents and reports, assisting with special events, ordering supplies, maintaining accounts and records, processing invoices and employee expenses, and providing information and assistance to the public. Attention to detail, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and staying organized under pressure are essential.

 

The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Word and Excel and have experience working in an administrative capacity, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.  In addition, you should possess outstanding written and oral communication skills to effectively deal with both internal and external contacts. You must be able to quickly adapt to unexpected and changing circumstances in this fast-paced environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Valid BC Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security Clearance is a condition of ongoing employment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with PRIME (Versadex RMS) and other police information systems
  • Preference given to candidates with existing RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $30.51 - $35.84. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
