About You / What We Are Looking For
The City of Coquitlam is seeking an Equipment
Operator – Sports Field Maintenance Worker to join our Sport Services Team. If
you have mechanical aptitude and the ability to use various tools and
equipment, we look forward to your application!
Working on the Sport Services Team, you will perform a variety of parks
maintenance labour tasks, including assisting in the maintenance and repair of
sports fields. In addition to labour intensive tasks that include the use of
hand tools, line trimmers and backpack blowers, you will operate a wide range
of maintenance equipment such as rotary deck mowers, tractors, loaders and
various tractor attachments related to sport field maintenance activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting over 45 grass, all
weather and synthetic sport fields as well as large activity lawn turf in
parks. Therefore, if you have experience in sports field equipment operations,
including fertilization, aeration, top dressing, liming and artificial field
grooming, it would be considered an asset. If you are committed to the delivery
of a high level of customer service to the community, and look forward to

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have completed Grade 12
(mandatory completion of Grade 10), supplemented by completion of some basic
turf grass and irrigation courses, plus considerable equipment operation
experience and some experience in turf grass maintenance or an equivalent
combination of training and experience. A valid BC Driver’s License is required
(with satisfactory record).
Preferred
Qualifications
A diploma in turf grass management would be an
asset. A Code 20 Heavy Trailer Endorsement would also be an asset. Experience
operating any of the following pieces of equipment would be an asset: A large
area mower/gang mower, tractor or front loader, snow removal equipment and/or
truck and trailer.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has
an hourly rate of $36.72. The rate of
pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge,
experience and skills.

day program. This position is on site and based in Coquitlam. The City offers
