About You / What We Are Looking For

 

The City of Coquitlam is seeking a Temporary Full-Time (TFT) Filming Coordinator to join the Economic Development Division. As an integral member of the Economic Development team, you will serve as a key point of contact between the City and the film industry, helping to facilitate filming activity in Coquitlam while balancing the needs of productions, City operations, residents and businesses. In this exciting role, you will coordinate filming inquiries and applications from initial request through approval, production and wrap up. You will review applications, determine filming requirements and restrictions and coordinate with internal departments and external agencies, and ensure productions comply with applicable City policies, bylaws and regulations. You will also support efforts to promote Coquitlam as a film-friendly destination and build positive relationships with industry partners and local business. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, responsive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where production timelines can be short and requests can be complex. You bring strong judgement and a solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to balance excellent customer service with municipal requirements and community considerations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Minimal Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the functions, procedures, by-laws, regulations and standards related to filming in the municipality.
  • Thorough knowledge of the office methods and procedures related to the work.
  • Considerable knowledge of the needs of film industry clients.
  • Ability to develop, recommend and implement new and revised policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assess and respond to the requirements of film production companies within established guidelines, and to authorize exceptions to policy as appropriate.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and disruptions, to coordinate appropriate support from police and fire services, and to ensure compliance with established policies, by-laws and regulations.
  • Ability to respond to complaints from the public and special interest groups and to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to promote filming in the community and to prepare a variety of promotional materials.
  • Ability to maintain accounts and records related to the work and to calculate required fees and charges.
  • Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Grade 12 supplemented by courses related to the work plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience including in a Municipal environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office as well as Amanda 7, Markview and Maximo operating systems
  • Strong relationship and customer service experience and skills

 

What We Offer:

 

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $41.91 - $49.34 per hour (2026 rates) + 6% in lieu of benefits. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
