About You / What We Are Looking For
The City is seeking a candidate who enjoys
accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, and is interested in supporting
the Finance Department through the use of evolving technologies. The Financial
Analyst will be a member of the Financial Planning team, reporting to the
Financial Planning Lead and working closely with colleagues across the
department. This is an excellent opportunity to assist departments with the
preparation of their annual operating budget submissions and contribute to a
variety of financial planning, reporting, and analytical initiatives.
The successful candidate will be analytical,
detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to work independently and
collaboratively. Working with large datasets, you will prepare financial
analyses, reports, and data visualizations to support informed decision-making.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential, as is the ability to manage
multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. In this role,
you will support the development and monitoring of the City's annual operating
budget and Five-Year Financial Plan.
Teamwork is at the heart of this role. You will
have the opportunity to collaborate with Finance colleagues while building
relationships with staff across the organization to support departmental
financial needs. This role is well suited to a motivated professional who is
eager to develop their expertise while making a meaningful contribution to the
community. The successful candidate will possess a sound understanding of
accounting principles and financial practices, strong analytical and
communication skills, and proficiency with financial systems and standard
business applications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree
in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, along with enrollment or
completion of the CPA designation. They will possess proficiency in Microsoft
Excel and demonstrate strong analytical, financial reporting, budgeting, and
problem-solving skills. Experience in systems including PeopleSoft, Oracle and
Maximo would be considered an asset.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $43.93 - $51.87 (2025 rates) plus 6% in lieu of benefits. The rate of
pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge,
experience and skills.
