About You / What We Are Looking For
We are currently recruiting for up to four (4) Maintenance Worker
Roads. There are three (3) Monday to Friday positions and one (1) Saturday
to Wednesday position. As a Maintenance Worker Roads, you will be performing
skilled manual work involving the maintenance and repair of roadways, streets,
boulevards and pedestrian passages. In this position you will have a
variety of daily tasks such as snow plowing, asphalt paving, installing &
inspecting street signs, clearing vegetation, assisting in concrete finishing
tasks, and operating single and tandem axle dump trucks. You may also be called
upon to maintain, clean, test and perform routine repairs on various pumps,
valves, hydrants and related equipment and perform pipe laying on water, storm
and sanitary sewers initially under the supervision of peers.
This position will require you to work as part of a team and
to demonstrate excellent customer service skills with members of the public and co-workers.
Minimum Qualifications
·
Have completed at least Grade 12 education.
·
Have considerable related work experience in roads.
·
Have completed relevant post-secondary courses in Public Works.
·
Possess sound knowledge of the principles,
practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in road infrastructure maintenance.

You will also
have the ability to recognize and apply safe work procedures.
·
We will require you to have a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement by the end of the probation/trial period. All applicants are required to
upload a current driver’s abstract to your
application.

Preference will be given to
candidates with municipal or roadway construction experience.

hourly rate of $37.15. Additionally,
there is an opportunity to participate in an earned day off program. The City offers an attractive vacation and
