About You / What We Are Looking For
The City of Coquitlam
is currently recruiting for one full-time Pool & Building Service Worker
who will be responsible for manual work involving janitorial, custodial and
minor building maintenance work performed on an assigned shift in an aquatic
facility.
Main responsibilities
·
Perform variety of janitorial
and routine maintenance duties relating to swimming pools and aquatic buildings
and equipment
·
Carry out pool filtration and
vacuuming duties as required
Duties are performed
in accordance with established practices and procedures, but a Pool and
Building Service Worker exercises considerable independence of action and
initiative in the performance of routine duties on a day-to-day basis,
referring complex or unusual problems to a superior who reviews work
performance in terms of technical adequacy, conformance to established
practices and procedures, and adherence to time schedules.
Desired Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of
materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial and custodial
- Considerable knowledge of the
operating principles and procedures of water heating, boiling, filtration and
chlorination equipment, and the methods, practices and materials used in the
operation of indoor and outdoor swimming pools
- Working knowledge of plumbing
and electrical systems applicable to the operation of the swimming pools and
other park facilities
- Working knowledge of
materials, methods and equipment used in building maintenance work and have the
ability to operate, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment typically used
in indoor and outdoor swimming pools
- Ability to prepare and
maintain records related to the work
- Ability to establish and
maintain effective relationships with staff, patrons and user groups
- Skill in the use of and care
of a variety of tools and equipment used in the work
- Grade 10 supplemented by
related janitorial and technical training
- Sound experience in the
operation and maintenance of water heating, filtration, pumps, boilers and
chlorination equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Grade 10 supplemented by
related janitorial and technical training
- Experience in the operation
and maintenance of water heating, filtration, pumps, boilers and chlorination
equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- A driver’s license for the
Province of BC would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work weekends and
graveyard (overnight) shifts.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has
an hourly rate range of $28.63 - $33.65. The rate of
pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge,
experience and skills.
