About You / What We Are Looking For

 

We are currently seeking a regular full-time and a temporary full-time Purchasing Clerk to join our team!  This position will provide administrative support to the Procurement section in the City’s Finance division.

 

Work includes processing bid and purchasing documents and responding to related inquiries. Duties include maintaining purchasing documents, files and records, preparing purchase orders, maintaining websites, scheduling, liaising with suppliers, verify accuracy of information and general duties as required for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the section.

 

If you are a team player and have experience in procurement, managing inventory, working with vendors and a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and clerical support we want to hear from you.  This position works in a fast paced environment, where no two days are the same.   

 

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication and documentation skills; is self-motivated and has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Internet and ERP software such as IBM Maximo is preferred. They will also have strong teamwork and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to set up and produce moderately complex documents required in the operations of the department. The ideal candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by clerical experience.  

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

·        Completion of Grade 12

·        Business administration or financial services experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

·        Municipal or public sector experience would be an asset

·        A valid BC Driver’s License is preferred for occasional travel to the Austin Works Yard

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $30.51 - $35.84 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
