About You / What We Are Looking For

 

This is a specialized clerical work involving the conduct of security clearance investigations and interviews. An employee of this class investigates suspicious and/or unclear issues and activities of potential employees, volunteers and contractors and analyses and evaluates resulting information; reviews and evaluates completed security clearance forms; completes background checks using RCMP databases and information systems; prepares reports summarizing and detailing analysis and findings; makes recommendations for approval/denial of security clearances. Considerable independence and judgement are exercised in matters which are within the framework of established policies and procedures, but policy or unusual problems are referred to a supervisor. Work is reviewed by a supervisor for overall results through discussion and perusal of reports.

 

Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, legislation and practices governing the work performed as well as extensive experience in investigational and interviewing techniques, methods and procedures.  Sound knowledge of RCMP systems PRIME and CPIC. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing as well as maintain effective work relationships with internal and external clients. Also required is the ability to work under minimal supervision and to exercise initiative, tact and discretion.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Completion of grade 12, plus post-secondary courses related to the work and considerable operation policing experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

This position requires a BC driver’s license as well as a current and active enhanced RCMP security clearance.

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $35.84 - $42.16 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
