About You / What We Are Looking For
Our Community Recreation division is currently recruiting for a Regular Part Time Senior Aquatic Leader to join our team! This position takes a leadership role in providing instructional and lifeguarding aquatics work in the Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities Department.
Our next Senior Aquatic Leader will assist in managing the operation of an indoor pool and may - during the summer - assume responsibility for the operation of an outdoor pool. This role will supervise and participate in the work of aquatic staff who perform swimming instructional and lifeguard duties, clerical/cashiering and maintenance work. Participation in program planning, independence of judgement in daily activities, and conformance to policy and procedures is expected.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have successfully completed grade 12 supplemented by broad knowledge of and experience in aquatic programs, and some supervisory experience or several years of experience in Municipal aquatic programs, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A Lifesaving Society’s Swim Instructor Certificate, National Lifeguard Award Pool Option, Standard First Aid Certificate, as well as CPR-Level C are required. Successful completion of a Police Information Check (with no adverse reports) is required.
Although shift days, times and locations are subject to change based on operational needs, we are currently recruiting for the following shift schedule:
Wednesday / Thursday / Friday: 5:00am – 10:00am; Saturday: 6:15pm – 11:15pm (20 hours/week shift package located at City Centre Aquatic Complex).
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $29.36 - $34.39/hour (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills. 10% in lieu of vacation and some benefits including extended health, dental and group life are provided with this package.
