About You / What We Are Looking For
The Recreation division provides innovative
recreational and cultural programs and services that support healthy active
living to meet the needs of our community. We are seeking candidates who are
passionate about working with and assisting with the recreational needs of
seniors and other members of the public, and would like to continue to pursue their
interest in clerical opportunities at the City. The successful Seniors Centre
Assistants will be located at either Dogwood Pavilion or Glen Pine Pavilion to
support adults and seniors. You will be responsible for answering inquiries
both in person and through phone calls, and will provide assistance to a
variety of members of the public, including seniors, volunteers, members and
staff. You will also perform a number of clerical and reception duties. Lastly,
you will be responsible for program registrations, membership sales, and
processing drop-ins through our Xplor registration software.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by or
including commercial, typing and data entry courses is required. Successful candidates must also have strong customer service skills and
experience in cash handling. As well, at least 2 years of related front counter experience is
required, preferably in a recreation department. Due to the location of
this position, experience working with seniors in a recreation setting is a
requirement. Please note that a valid
Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia (with
satisfactory driving record), as well as a St. John’s First Aid Certificate or
equivalent is required.
What We Offer:
This position has an hourly
rate range of $28.26 - $33.09 per hour (2025 rates) as well as 12% in lieu. The
rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications,
knowledge, experience and skills.
