About You / What We Are Looking For

 

The City of Coquitlam is currently recruiting for a temporary full time Survey Assistant 2 to assist our Survey team over the summer months (June to September). This is a CUPE Local 386 position. Reporting to the Supervisor of Survey Operations, you will make precise measurements and assist the Survey Technician with calculations.  Your responsibilities include assisting in the operation of a Total Station and GNSS Receiver along with other related survey equipment, transfer of electronic data to related software applications, creating field notes, and performing survey calculations. You will also assist in planning work on the job sites and must be comfortable performing physical work, including bush cutting and survey point installation, in various elements and weather.

Minimum Qualifications

 

You have obtained or are in the process of achieving a diploma in Geomatics or a related area of study and have knowledge of mathematics required for survey calculations. You should have strong computer skills, have attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Driver’s licence is required for this role.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience in routine and complex survey work in a municipal surveying environment and some hands-on expertise with a range of surveying equipment is desirable.

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $30.51 - $35.84. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
