About You / What We Are Looking For
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a
Transportation Technologist in our land development team. This role is
temporary with a one-year contract.
- One-year contract (focused on land development) –
responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing
transportation components of development, such as road dedication, access, road
infrastructure, traffic impacts, parking, loading and waste services.
- Drafting memorandums,
outlining City proposals and servicing requirements.
- Liaising with other departments, and external agencies
(e.g. developers, consultants).
In addition, the successful candidate will prepare
and coordinate surveys and analyze results; conduct various transportation
engineering analysis and research on municipal transportation issues and
matters pertaining to new and on-going transportation projects; oversee the
work of consultants engaged in technical and research projects; prepare reports
outlining findings, options and proposals; and organize and attend public
consultation events.
Minimum Qualifications
Along with a team-player
attitude and relevant experience in transportation planning, you have a diploma
in an appropriate discipline such as civil engineering technology or urban
planning from a recognized educational institution and a certification or
eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT).
Engineers-In-Training are also welcome to apply, and would gain applicable
experience towards their future P.Eng designation. Strong computer skills, attention to detail
and accuracy, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are
necessary for this role. A valid BC
driver’s license or an equivalent is required.
Preferred
Qualifications
Software knowledge related
to civil engineering (e.g. AutoCAD / Civil 3D, Synchro, ArcGIS, etc.) would be
an asset.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has
an hourly rate range of $45.75 - $54.03. The rate of
pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge,
experience and skills.
